" Is your car manual or auto?"
-Both
"Uh do you have a clutch?
-No but I can switch back and forth. I shift like a manual or leave it in auto.
"But you don't have a clutch so it's not really a manual trans. It's an auto with a manual shift mode."
Yeah it's both
"What do you drive?"

And I just walk away. Look I don't hate on automatics, but just admit you have a damn automatic.

Nothing wrong with an auto. Lots of drag cars use it for a reason. It is just that it isn't a manual unless it has a clutch. DCT. . . kind of, but not really. I haven't experienced this personally, but people are still amazed that manual cars are still sold.

Word...as much as I love having 3 pedals, and would prefer to buy a proper gearbox my realistic dream car the Volvo V60 R is an auto box...I'm totally fine with that and would be happy to DD it...because 325hp wagon!

I honestly don't mind having 3 pedals for a daily. Then again I am young. So far though, I love the 3 pedals! Although, if I want an E63 AMG Wagon, its gonna have to be auto.

Oh I love having 3 pedals for my daily, it does make the commute more enjoyable but would gladly trade it to have a nice wagon again.

My Legacy GT wagon had 250hp 250tq and a 5-speed. It was amazing until the clutch decided to desinagrate...twice. Apparently it was a "thing" with that year.

You owned a Legacy GT? That is fantastic! Did you do anything to it, exhaust maybe? Not too loud, just loud at WOT. The engines in those sound great, like all Subarus.

I upgraded the brakes...other than that no mods. Only had the car 3 years.

My friend always argues that his Steptronic E46 330ci is "Auto-manual." It drives me crazy. When people ask me what transmission I have I just say, "DSG" and if pressed for more info I explain it as a semi-manual transmission with a computer-controlled clutch. If it's a fairly old person asking I compare it to the automatic-stickshift VW Beetles of the 60s-70s.

The thing is most folks with DSGs or the like know they have a DSG, except for Focus owners but they just say they have an auto. It's the luxury car folks with auto-sticks that are confused.
